However, in July of 2018, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of some drugs which contain Valsartan after learning that some batches of Valsartan were contaminated with a known carcinogen linked to increased cancer risk called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and/or N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA).
Since initially announcing the recall in July of 2018, which covered only one manufacturer of Valsartan, the FDA has significantly expanded the scope of the recall to now over 15 manufacturers. You can find a list of FDA recalled drugs here.
NDMA and NDEA have been linked to increased risk of liver cancer, colorectal cancer, stomach cancer, and kidney cancer.
