Susan Delbosq is an attorney with The Law Office of JJ Talbott, whose legal career has been shaped by perseverance, service, and a commitment to justice. Having handled hundreds of criminal, wage and hour, family and personal injury cases as well as other civil matters throughout her career, Susan is dedicated to protecting her clients’ interests and ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness under the law.
Born and raised in South Florida, Susan overcame a challenging upbringing that instilled in her a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. At just 17 years old, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she served in munitions and quickly advanced to the rank of Technical Sergeant. Following her honorable discharge, she began building a career in civilian life.
Susan later married and moved to California, where she welcomed her two daughters. Following the end of her marriage, she relocated to Denver, Colorado, determined to create a better future for herself and her children. As a single mother working full-time, she attended college at night while raising two young daughters.
During this time, Susan and her daughters were involved in a devastating automobile accident caused by a drunk driver who forced their vehicle off the road, causing it to roll multiple times. Although her daughters escaped injury, Susan sustained injuries that continue to affect her to this day. Reflecting on that experience, Susan often says, “The best sound I have ever heard in my life was my daughters crying when the car finally stopped rolling.”
Despite the physical and emotional challenges that followed, Susan persevered and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College, graduating Cum Laude with a 3.67 GPA.
Determined to continue challenging herself, Susan moved to Lansing, Michigan, to attend law school. She enrolled at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1998, where she concentrated in litigation. While attending law school, Susan served as President of the St. Thomas More Society, participated in Moot Court, worked part-time in the State Prosecutor’s Office, volunteered at her daughters’ school, and continued managing medical treatments related to her injuries.
After graduating from law school, Susan knew she wanted to return to Florida. During a visit to Pensacola in 2003, she fell in love with the area and decided to make Northwest Florida her home. After passing the Florida Bar Exam, she made the difficult decision to relocate to Florida while her oldest daughter remained in Michigan to complete her studies at Michigan State University. Looking back, Susan believes it was the right choice. Today, her oldest daughter is an emergency room physician, and her younger daughter is an attorney.
Susan began her legal career in Florida as an Assistant State Attorney serving both Okaloosa and Escambia Counties. From her very first week in the courtroom, she gained extensive trial experience handling hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases, arguing motions, conducting hearings, and trying cases before judges and juries. Her dedication to the legal profession led to her election as President of the Okaloosa-Walton Bar Association in 2009.
After three years as a prosecutor, Susan opened her own law practice, focusing on criminal defense, family law, consumer law, and foreclosure defense. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to helping individuals navigate some of the most difficult challenges of their lives.
Susan’s unique combination of life experience, military service, education, and extensive courtroom advocacy provides her clients with a perspective few attorneys can offer. She understands firsthand the struggles that many people face and approaches every case with compassion, determination, and integrity.
For Susan, the practice of law is more than a profession—it is a calling. She believes that justice is the foundation of our legal system and that every client deserves a dedicated advocate who will listen, communicate, and fight tirelessly on their behalf.
